(KJV) Gal 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. (KJV) Faith in Christ Jesus shows us that we may always approach Him as Sons and Daughters, as we are a new creation in Him, blameless and without sin, (I do not say without guilt) In like manner we should turn again and again from our sin to the example of Christ - we have good standing before the Father if we love Him and believe on His Son. We have life in Christ who failed not at the point of death but was victorious throughout life and death - we have put aside our sin if we are chosen in Christ and predestined to eternal life. It is God that has done this through grace and His word, since it is faith in the true person of God in obedience to Him, (both of which we were and are without) that is the life of Christ, and that ultimately justifies us also. (KJV) Now the spirit of antichrist is that which seeks to diminish or oppose the work of the cross. (Thanks James!) Much more true is the statement that the spirit of antichrist has sought to make all salvation into only the cross and has ignored the life and teaching of Jesus Christ, putting all doctrine into His death so that His teaching might be secondary - wheras it is primary. Now the offering of Christ was most acceptable to God being described as a "sweet smelling savour"; Eph 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. (KJV) Sweet smellng, as a clean offering not tainted by guilt - being more excellent overall. And also likewise, Phi 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. (KJV) Likewise the enemies of Christ are those that oppose the cross - as showing the true calling of God for us to answer Him with obedience in the face of tribulation, showing perseverance and patience. Phi 3:18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: (KJV) Now the grace of God is displayed to us by the words of Christ, and exampled to us is the fulfilment of all God's law in His obedience even to death. In the cross God translated His kingdom from physical Israel who claimed justification by the law to the disciples of Christ who weep and mourn separately over Christ's crucifiction, and whom are comforted in His resurrection. The shed blood of Christ is the redemption of His people, being the newly defined translated spiritual kingdom called Israel by God at the point of the cross. That translation shows the fulfilment of the salvation of Israel by God. The law is no longer waiting to be fulfilled but the work completed and the grace given. The blood Paul writes of in Colossians is this moment of translation in which the remnant of Israel, Christ's lost sheep are redeemed. Col 1:12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Col 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: Col 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: (KJV) Col 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. (KJV) Now this reconciliation was completed at the cross,.. the punishment for our sins being erased, rather than suffered in agony by Christ because He was accepted of God , that the grace of God should not be required for His Son Jesus, but so that He might be without any spot or presence of evil even at the end of His life. Our disobedience is done away with at the cross - for improving on our faith and knowledge of God brings us into closeness and obedience to Him in love, and this was the gospel spoken of by Christ. (giving us new life in His resurrection with a more lively hope) By disposing of our sin with the cross, He completed His ministry when He could do no more to mediate the grace of God to us, the work being finished, as we find in Colossians; Col 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; (KJV) So that we could become obedient, God gifted His Spirit so that we would be Holy as justified by faith, approaching that of the faith and knowledge of God of Christ Himself, that ministering made by the Spirit and not as to make us holy by the sufferings on the cross of Christ as it were by He being guilty for us. (for He scorned the shame of the cross). By God's mercy He saved us, and not by tormenting Jesus Christ. For in Hebrews Paul Writes; Heb 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; (KJV) All things are upheld by the word of His power (to save us) through His spoken word of grace, and has at once purged our sins after His death when His example was both complete and accepted before God the Father.
